Bearing witness to Easter joy

This article by Olivier Clément, originally published in 1965, addresses the question of Christian witness in the contemporary world. Belonging to the genre of theological meditation, it examines the conditions and nature of an authentic witness to paschal joy. The central idea is that true witness cannot be reduced to an outward proclamation, but requires an inner participation in the mystery of martyrdom, understood both as a total gift of self and as a daily ascesis of humility and self-abasement.
