Impressions of Belgium on the 11th Orthodox Congress of Western Europe

This article brings together several testimonies from Belgian participants at the eleventh Orthodox congress of Western Europe, held in Saint-Laurent-sur-Sèvre. It belongs to the genre of the report and personal testimony. The contributions, signed by Father Ignace Peckstadt and several lay faithful, describe the atmosphere of the congress, the diversity of the participants — more than eight hundred, including a delegation of approximately seventy-five people from the Benelux — and the quality of the multilingual liturgical celebrations. The central idea is that these congresses constitute an ecclesially significant space where Orthodox unity manifests itself concretely, beyond jurisdictional divisions. On the theological level, the testimonies illustrate the notion of conciliarity and the Orthodox vision of unity in diversity, emphasizing the value of the Orthodox Fellowship of Western Europe as a place of common witness for the diaspora.
