Amal Dibo. Lay member of the Orthodox diocese of Mount Lebanon (Patriarchate of Antioch), she is a professor of civilization and languages at the American University of Beirut. She was a member of the Middle East Council of Churches in several commissions. Author of numerous biographical articles on contemporary fathers and essays on ecclesiology and spirituality.

Elisabeth Behr-Sigel, reading the signs of our time living faithThis article examines the theological legacy of Élisabeth Behr-Sigel (1907-2005), a major figure in Francophone Orthodox theology, through a study of her thought and intellectual journey. Amal Dibo adopts both a biographical and theological approach to bring out the internal coherence of a body of work marked by a plurality of affiliations and commitments. The central idea is that Behr-Sigel consistently refused reductive oppositions, seeking to hold together realities that contemporary thought tends to dissociate: action and contemplation, tradition and renewal, ecumenical unity and Orthodox fidelity, the place of women and men in the Church. The contribution of the article lies in shedding light on a theological method grounded in the integration of tensions rather than their resolution through exclusion, thereby offering resources for thinking through the ecclesial challenges of the twenty-first century.
