Father Lev Gillet and Vladimir Soloviev, based on his writings intended for Irenikon

This article by Dom Emmanuel Lanne examines the intellectual and spiritual relationship between Father Lev Gillet and the Russian philosopher Vladimir Soloviev, through an analysis of the contributions Father Lev made to the journal *Irénikon* and its collection between 1926 and 1953. The study adopts a historical and documentary approach, drawing on a precise corpus of published texts. The central idea is that Soloviev's presence at the origins of the monastery of Amay is due above all to Father Lev himself, who saw in the Russian philosopher a model of ascetic holiness and a thinker of ecclesial unity founded on love. The article's contribution is twofold: it reconstructs Father Lev's determining influence on the ecumenical orientation of *Irénikon* in its early days, and it shows how the Solovievian reading of Roman primacy as a primacy of charity, along with the themes of sophiology and eschatology, durably structured his theological thought, well beyond his entry into communion with the Orthodox Church.
