Ecumenical round table: How to bear witness to Christ beyond the divisions of Christians?

This article presents the contributions made during an ecumenical round table organized as part of a congress, bringing together four representatives of different Christian denominations: a Protestant pastor, a Catholic priest, a brother from the Taizé community, and an Orthodox layperson. In the form of a multi-denominational debate, the participants examine the question of common Christian witness in the face of historical divisions between Churches. The central idea that emerges from the contributions as a whole is that the effectiveness of witness rests on communion with Christ as lived within a united community, and that this communion requires an active approach of openness to the other. On a theological level, the article highlights that overcoming denominational divisions requires a personal conversion to Christ, entailing the renunciation of institutional particularisms that stand in the way of the relationship with God and the unity of Christians.
