Children’s participation in the congressThis article reports on the participation of children in the congress of the Orthodox Brotherhood in Western Europe, bringing together some seven hundred and fifty faithful from many European countries. It is a descriptive account tracing the organisation of a catechetical programme specifically designed for children, marking a departure from the simple childcare offered at previous editions. The central idea is that children, recognised as full members of the Church, can engage with the theological theme of the congress — the unity of the Church — through age-appropriate activities, including a large team game combining questions, riddles and encounters with adult participants. The contribution of this article lies in its concrete illustration of an active, intergenerational catechetical pedagogy, showing how the linguistic and cultural diversity of Orthodox Christians in Europe can be experienced as an expression of ecclesial unity from childhood onwards.
