Cet article examine les relations entre psychopathologie, psychothérapie et théologie orthodoxe, en cherchant à définir les frontières et les complémentarités entre ces deux domaines. Le père Basile Thermos, prêtre et psychiatre, adopte une approche interdisciplinaire qui articule les apports de la psychiatrie moderne avec les catégories anthropologiques de la tradition patristique. L'idée centrale est que la santé psychique et la vie spirituelle, bien que distinctes, ne s'opposent pas mais s'inscrivent dans une vision cohérente de la personne humaine. L'article propose ainsi une grille de lecture théologique permettant d'identifier ce que la psychothérapie peut accomplir, ce qui relève en revanche de la direction spirituelle, et comment les deux peuvent coexister sans confusion ni réduction de l'un à l'autre. This article examines the relationships between psychopathology, psychotherapy and Orthodox theology, seeking to define the boundaries and complementarities between these two fields. Father Basil Thermos, a priest and psychiatrist, adopts an interdisciplinary approach that articulates the contributions of modern psychiatry with the anthropological categories of the patristic tradition. The central idea is that psychological health and spiritual life, while distinct, are not opposed but are part of a coherent vision of the human person. The article thus proposes a theological framework for identifying what psychotherapy can accomplish, what falls instead within the domain of spiritual direction, and how the two can coexist without confusion or reduction of one to the other. The main contribution lies in the development of an Orthodox conceptual framework for thinking about psychological suffering and its treatment.

Cet article examine la tension entre institution et charisme au sein de la spiritualité orthodoxe, en prenant pour point de départ les limites de certaines orientations ecclésiologiques contemporaines. L'auteur adopte une approche théologique critique, interrogeant la place respective de l'autorité institutionnelle, notamment épiscopale, et des dons charismatiques dans la vie de l'Église. L'idée centrale soutient que la surévaluation de la structure institutionnelle au détriment de la dimension charismatique appauvrit la compréhension authentique de la vie ecclésiale et spirituelle. L'apport de l'article réside dans une relecture équilibrée des rapports entre ordre institutionnel et liberté de l'Esprit, invitant à dépasser les oppositions réductrices pour penser une ecclésiologie intégrant pleinement les deux dimensions. Cette réflexion contribue au débat théologique orthodoxe contemporain sur les fondements et l'organisation de la vie ecclésiale.

This article examines the tension between institution and charism within Orthodox spirituality, taking as its starting point the limitations of certain contemporary ecclesiological orientations. The author adopts a critical theological approach, questioning the respective place of institutional authority, particularly episcopal authority, and charismatic gifts in the life of the Church. The central argument holds that the overvaluation of institutional structure at the expense of the charismatic dimension impoverishes an authentic understanding of ecclesial and spiritual life. The contribution of the article lies in a balanced rereading of the relationship between institutional order and the freedom of the Spirit, inviting readers to move beyond reductive oppositions in order to conceive an ecclesiology that fully integrates both dimensions. This reflection contributes to the contemporary Orthodox theological debate on the foundations and organization of ecclesial life.
