Cet article aborde la question des migrations contemporaines sous l'angle ecclésiologique, à partir de la réflexion du métropolite Stéphane de Tallinn, primat de l'Église orthodoxe d'Estonie. Dans une étude à la fois pastorale et théologique, l'auteur examine les implications ecclésiologiques du phénomène migratoire pour le monde orthodoxe, en particulier la multiplication des juridictions parallèles sur un même territoire en Europe occidentale. L'idée centrale est que cette situation canonique découle d'un nationalisme ecclésial que l'auteur identifie comme une hérésie ecclésiologique. This article addresses the question of contemporary migrations from an ecclesiological perspective, drawing on the reflections of Metropolitan Stephanos of Tallinn, primate of the Estonian Orthodox Church. In a study that is both pastoral and theological, the author examines the ecclesiological implications of the migratory phenomenon for the Orthodox world, particularly the multiplication of parallel jurisdictions over the same territory in Western Europe. The central idea is that this canonical situation stems from an ecclesial nationalism that the author identifies as an ecclesiological heresy. The contribution of the article lies in the articulation between a contemporary social issue and an ancient canonical problem, that of the territoriality of the Church, thus offering a critical contribution to Orthodox reflection on the unity of the Church in the face of the challenges posed by modern human mobility.

Cet article rend compte de la conférence prononcée par le métropolite Stéphane, primat de l'Église orthodoxe d'Estonie, lors d'une session plénière consacrée à la présence chrétienne dans le monde contemporain. Sous la forme d'une méditation théologique, l'auteur examine la situation des chrétiens, et plus particulièrement des orthodoxes, face à deux réalités antagonistes : le déclin religieux en Occident et la montée du fanatisme au Proche-Orient et en Afrique. L'idée centrale est que cette tension constitue paradoxalement un terrain propice à une rencontre renouvelée entre l'Évangile et le monde. Sur le plan théologique, l'article défend que seule une pastorale fondée sur la communion est en mesure d'interpeller une société sécularisée, en lui restituant le sens de l'amour et en ouvrant l'homme à une dimension contemplative de la réalité.

This article reports on the conference delivered by Metropolitan Stephanos, Primate of the Estonian Orthodox Church, during a plenary session devoted to the Christian presence in the contemporary world. In the form of a theological meditation, the author examines the situation of Christians, and more particularly of Orthodox Christians, in the face of two antagonistic realities: religious decline in the West and the rise of fanaticism in the Middle East and Africa. The central idea is that this tension paradoxically constitutes fertile ground for a renewed encounter between the Gospel and the world. On the theological level, the article argues that only a pastoral approach grounded in communion is capable of challenging a secularized society, by restoring to it the meaning of love and opening humanity to a contemplative dimension of reality.

Cet article du métropolite Stéphane de Tallinn rend hommage à Olivier Clément tout en examinant la question de l'unité canonique de l'orthodoxie en France. Relevant du témoignage théologique personnel, il retrace l'histoire de l'implantation orthodoxe en France depuis les grandes migrations du début du XXe siècle jusqu'aux débats ecclésiologiques contemporains. L'idée centrale est que le phylétisme et l'autocéphalisme constituent des obstacles majeurs à la constitution d'une Église orthodoxe locale canoniquement unifiée, en contradiction avec l'ecclésiologie eucharistique et conciliaire. L'auteur montre qu'Olivier Clément a joué un rôle décisif dans la réflexion sur l'équation ethnicité-catholicité, notamment par sa conférence d'Amiens de 1977, dont les propositions demeurent d'actualité. The central idea is that phyletism and autocephalism constitute major obstacles to the formation of a canonically unified local Orthodox Church, in contradiction with eucharistic and conciliar ecclesiology. The author shows that Olivier Clément played a decisive role in reflection on the ethnicity-catholicity equation, particularly through his 1977 Amiens conference, whose proposals remain relevant today.
