Commission mixte internationale pour le dialogue théologique entre l’Église catholique romaine et l’Église orthodoxe

Cet article présente la traduction française du document adopté en juin 2023 lors de la 15e session de la Commission mixte internationale pour le dialogue théologique entre l'Église catholique romaine et l'Église orthodoxe, réunie à Alexandrie. Il s'agit d'un texte d'accord œcuménique officiel portant sur les notions de synodalité et de primauté dans l'Église. L'étude examine la manière dont ces deux principes ecclésiologiques se sont articulés en Orient et en Occident au cours du deuxième millénaire, jusqu'à la période contemporaine. L'apport théologique majeur réside dans la formulation d'une vision commune de la structure ecclésiale, qui récuse à la fois le modèle pyramidal centré sur un primat unique et le modèle fédératif d'Églises indépendantes. Ce document constitue une étape significative dans le rapprochement doctrinal entre les deux traditions chrétiennes sur des questions d'organisation et d'autorité dans l'Église.

This article presents the French translation of the document adopted in June 2023 at the 15th session of the Joint International Commission for Theological Dialogue between the Roman Catholic Church and the Orthodox Church, held in Alexandria. It is an official ecumenical agreement text dealing with the notions of synodality and primacy in the Church. The study examines the way in which these two ecclesiological principles have been articulated in the East and the West over the course of the second millennium, up to the contemporary period. The major theological contribution lies in the formulation of a common vision of ecclesial structure, which rejects both the pyramidal model centered on a single primate and the federative model of independent Churches. This document constitutes a significant step in the doctrinal rapprochement between the two Christian traditions on questions of organization and authority in the Church.

Cet article reproduit le document d'accord adopté à Munich en juillet 1982 lors de la deuxième réunion plénière de la Commission mixte internationale pour le dialogue théologique entre l'Église catholique romaine et l'Église orthodoxe. Il s'agit d'un texte doctrinal conjoint articulé en trois parties. La première établit le fondement trinitaire et pneumatologique de l'Eucharistie, en montrant comment le Fils et l'Esprit coopèrent à l'actualisation sacramentelle du mystère pascal. La deuxième examine la structure de l'Église locale, le rôle de l'évêque dans la présidence eucharistique et la nature organique de la succession apostolique. La troisième traite de la communion entre les Églises locales, de leur catholicité et de la collégialité épiscopale. L'apport principal du document réside dans la formulation d'un accord bilatéral sur l'ecclésiologie eucharistique, posant les bases d'un dialogue ultérieur sur les points encore litigieux entre les deux traditions.

This article reproduces the agreement document adopted in Munich in July 1982 at the second plenary meeting of the Joint International Commission for Theological Dialogue between the Roman Catholic Church and the Orthodox Church. It is a joint doctrinal text articulated in three parts. The first establishes the Trinitarian and pneumatological foundation of the Eucharist, showing how the Son and the Spirit cooperate in the sacramental actualization of the paschal mystery. The second examines the structure of the local Church, the role of the bishop in eucharistic presidency, and the organic nature of apostolic succession. The third deals with communion between local Churches, their catholicity, and episcopal collegiality. The main contribution of the document lies in the formulation of a bilateral agreement on eucharistic ecclesiology, laying the groundwork for further dialogue on points still in dispute between the two traditions.
