Cet article examine la réception de Syméon le Nouveau Théologien dans l'œuvre de Nicodème l'Hagiorite, moine athonite du XVIIIe siècle et figure centrale du mouvement philocalique. L'étude analyse la manière dont Nicodème a lu, édité et transmis les écrits de Syméon, contribuant ainsi à façonner l'image de ce théologien byzantin dans la tradition spirituelle orthodoxe moderne. L'auteur montre que la lecture nicodémienne de Syméon n'est pas neutre : elle s'inscrit dans un projet théologique et ascétique précis, celui du renouveau hésychaste et de la promotion de la prière intérieure. L'apport de cet article réside dans l'éclairage qu'il apporte sur les mécanismes de transmission et d'interprétation des sources patristiques au sein de la tradition orthodoxe, révélant comment un auteur médiéval peut être relu et réapproprié selon les enjeux spirituels d'une époque ultérieure.

This article examines the reception of Symeon the New Theologian in the work of Nikodemos the Hagiorite, an Athonite monk of the eighteenth century and central figure of the Philokalic movement. The study analyzes the way in which Nikodemos read, edited and transmitted the writings of Symeon, thereby contributing to shaping the image of this Byzantine theologian in the modern Orthodox spiritual tradition. The author shows that Nikodemos's reading of Symeon is not neutral: it is part of a precise theological and ascetic project, that of Hesychast renewal and the promotion of interior prayer. The contribution of this article lies in the light it sheds on the mechanisms of transmission and interpretation of patristic sources within the Orthodox tradition, revealing how a medieval author can be reread and reappropriated according to the spiritual concerns of a later period.
