The article examines Father Cyrille's contribution to ecumenical dialogue, focusing on the ecclesiological vision underlying his engagement. The author, Father Yannick Provost, adopts a historical and theological approach to trace the way in which Father Cyrille conceived and practiced the Orthodox Church's participation in interconfessional exchanges. The central idea is that this ecumenical involvement was not a matter of simple diplomatic pragmatism, but was rooted in a coherent ecclesiology oriented toward the unity of Christians. The article thus sheds light on Father Cyrille's thinking on the nature of the Church and its unifying mission, offering valuable insight into the way in which the Orthodox tradition can articulate doctrinal fidelity and openness to dialogue. The contribution of this study lies in bringing to prominence a figure whose ecumenical work remains little known.

Cet article est consacré au métropolite Germain de Thyatire (1872-1951), figure orthodoxe majeure du mouvement œcuménique au début du XXe siècle, aujourd'hui largement méconnue. L'étude, de caractère historique et théologique, retrace le rôle déterminant joué par ce prélat dans l'élaboration de l'Encyclique de Constantinople de 1920, adressée à toutes les Églises du monde. L'auteur analyse la genèse et la portée de ce texte fondateur, qui proposait l'établissement d'une communion entre les Églises chrétiennes, et en offre une traduction française. L'apport principal de l'article est de montrer comment cette initiative orthodoxe a contribué de manière décisive à la création du Conseil œcuménique des Églises en 1948, tout en restituant à Germain de Thyatire la place qui lui revient dans l'histoire du dialogue interconfessionnel.

This article is devoted to Metropolitan Germanos of Thyateira (1872-1951), a major Orthodox figure in the ecumenical movement at the beginning of the 20th century, who is today largely unknown. The study, historical and theological in nature, traces the decisive role played by this prelate in the drafting of the 1920 Encyclical of Constantinople, addressed to all the Churches of the world. The author analyses the genesis and significance of this founding text, which proposed the establishment of a communion between the Christian Churches, and offers a French translation of it. The main contribution of the article is to show how this Orthodox initiative contributed decisively to the creation of the World Council of Churches in 1948, while restoring to Germanos of Thyateira the place he deserves in the history of interconfessional dialogue.
